How it all works

Gone is the day that you need to be an IT expert to master and maintain your own website. With our SmarterWeb product, all the back-end hard coding is taken care of, which leaves you the freedom to edit and update your site at your own leisure.

We've used SmarterWeb to build and maintain this very site, so that you'll be able to grab a stronger understanding of the features and depths of this product.

Each SmarterWeb site has it's own online Site Administration site (pictured right), which is password protected. It's from this Site Administration area that you are able to upload and manage all your websites content. You will find that the uploading process very similar across the board between section types, but due to the varying types of information and functionality in each section, they do alter slightly.

Check out some sample's of the easy uploading process below:

Uploading to the File/Image Administration:

  1. In your Site Administration, select 'File/Image Administration' from the menu. Click on "Upload File/Image".
  2. Simply click "Browse" to search your hard drive for the image or file you wish to upload to the website and make sure you have the appropriate radio button selected (image or file).
  3. The 'Source' option only needs to be used where giving credit to a provider of particular images. This is not necessary and will only display within photo gallery sections.
  4. Give your file or image a title by submitting appropiate text into the 'Caption' box.
  5. Finally, click on "Upload" and your file or image will be uploaded to your websites database and is ready to be allocated to pages within your on-line website.

Uploading to Latest News:

  1. Once in your Site Administration site, navigate to the relevant section you wish to enter (or edit) content for by clicking on it's Menu Name displayed in the Site Administration.
  2. Click on "New Article" (or Edit a current one) and enter the text into the required fields.
  3. Choose a Status for your article between Latest News or Archive Article (which compresses the initial display of your article and moves it to another section on your site)
  4. Simply tick the appropriate boxes if you would like to also display the article in News In Brief or as a Feature Article (see *** for more information on the functionality of these sections).
  5. If you have an image you would like to associate with an article, simply click on the 'Image No.' button and enter the image reference number in the space provided. If you are not sure of the reference number, then simply click on the 'browse for image' link to select your image.
Please Note: you must upload your image first, before being able to link to it with an article. You may also link the same image to multiple articles.

We are convinced that as you navigate through this site, that you will begin to see the full potential that you and your organisation can reach with SmarterWeb.
